The Kings Kidz Corner

Hey young people, welcome to our latest blog entry.  In this entry we will look at the importance of being connected to Godly people vs. ungodly people.  In 1 Kings 4, we see all of the wealth that Solomon had gained.  One verse says that Solomon had a 40,000 chariot stall.  Think about a 40,000 car garage.  Whoa!!! It would take about 109 years to ride all of those horses if he rode one per day. He had just built the temple and laced it with gold and he was in good standing with God.  Later though in the eleventh chapter, we see that Solomon connected himself to some ungodly women and started to serve their gods.  Because of this God took the kingdom away from him.  Deuteronomy 8:18 says remember the Lord your God for it is He who gives you the power to create wealth.  Solomon was also very wise.  He was able to figure things out easily with the help of the Lord. It is important that we stay with God and with His people.  He will bless you richly if you stay with Him.

Hey young people, yesterday we had an awesome time in both services at church.  In the morning time, Pastor White encouraged us to develop a taste for the the things of God.  What this means is that we need to be satisfied with the things that God has for us instead of the things that the world has to offer.  I like this because ultimately, the things that the world has to offer are only temporary but the things that God has to offer are eternal.  
At night, I talked about lifting your voice like a trumpet in order to break down the walls and the barriers that the enemy places in the way of our blessings.  It is important that we praise God continually.  Through this praise, deliverance will come and victory is ours.

I'm so excited.  We had an amazing meeting tonight and many new members came on board.  We have set a few goals for the youth department for the upcoming year and we are sure that the young people at the church will be enlightened, excited, and educated about their lives in Christ Jesus.  Stay tuned for more information about the cool and innovative happenings within the King's Kidz Youth Department at the First Church of the Living God.

This week, new lights were installed in our church.  These lights illuminated the church and even allowed the members to see the pages on the bible more clearly.  These lights also allowed the members to see some of the things that had gone unnoticed in past years.  I thought about this in a spiritual light (no pun intended) and remembered Matthew 5:14 which says that we are the light of the world.  As the light, we are called to shine in the dark areas.  We are also called to exude the true light which is Jesus Christ.  Matthew 5:16 says "Let your light so shine before men that they might see your good works and glorify the Father which is in Heaven." When we let our light shine, people will glorify our God.

Hey young men and women of the King's Kidz Youth Department,
I am excited to start a new year with you as one of your youth directors.  This year promises to be a ground breaking and innovative one.  This year we pray that God will give us the strategy and strength to accomplish the goals that He has set before us. We have a meeting this Wednesday at 6:00 PM in the church library.

I thank God for this 4th of July.  Not only is it the day that commemorates the day that the United States became an independent entity, it is also my mother's birthday.  Tyler's too.  Go Ty.  During this day, we as Christians should take extra time to thank God for the fact that He has liberated us from the law of sin and shame.  God has restored us to our rightful place in Him.  If you haven't yet taken the opportunity to give your life to Christ, read Romans 10:9. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth theLord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raisedhim from the dead, thou shalt be saved".  Get saved and then you can truly celebrate independence.

Hey young people, I just saw one of the coolest gadgets ever.  Of course it was developed in part by Apple, Inc.  The device is a watch/pedometer/running coach.  It allows you to record your workouts and track them on nike+.com.  I think that this is a must have for anyone who is serious about taking their running and cross training workouts to a new level.  

In this week's lesson of the 40 Days of Community, the lesson was about growing together.  Together we learned about the requirements of growing together.  One of the requirements of growing together is patience with one another.  Another requirement for us to grow together is truthfulness with one another about our likes and dislikes.  Pastor Rick Warren gives is a few tools that we can use in order to be truthful with one another.  The first tool is to check your motives.  It is important that we speak the truth in love for the right reasons, not to hurt one another or to boost ourselves.  The next step is to plan our presentation by planning when we will say what we need to say, planning what we will say, and by planning how we will say it.  Pastor Warren says that we need to pray and tell the truth tactfully.  We need to speak lovingly and gently.  Finally, growing together requires forgiveness.  It is so important that we learn to forgive one another.  This forgiveness is not only for the person who has done wrong but it is also for the person who has been done wrong to.  Let's grow together people.

Hey young people, last week's lesson in the 40 days of community was about belonging together.  In this lesson Pastor Rick Warren taught about love.  He talked about how love always protects, meaning that you will not talk about your brothers or sisters in a negative way.  You will work to protect them from the negativity that may be around.  Love trusts.  One of the things that I loved about what he said is that love is enthusiastic about one another's accomplishment.  This means NO HATERS!!! We should all be happy about the blessings that God has allowed to happen in the lives of our brothers and sisters.  Pastor Warren then says that love hopes.  He finally says that love perseveres.  To illustrate this point he said that "A brother is in you corner when you're in the corner."  So look at these four attributes of love and see whether or not your views of love hold up. Remember, "We all being many are one body of Christ and members one of another" Romans 12:5, meaning that we need to love our brothers even as we love ourselves as Christ does for us.

I saw one of my students with the orange version of these sneakers and it took my mind back to the first AirMax that I ever had. I can remember the orange, white, and black AirMax that comfortably fit my feet. I didn't even have to tie them, they just fit so nicely. I know that they are expensive but I may have to bite the bullet and get them.  They feel as though you are walking on pillows and they are bad on the eyes either.  Who knows, I may get Kings Kidz stitched somewhere in them.  Wouldn't that be cool?  Remember people, keep your sneakers clean and they'll last for years, trust me I know.

Just in case you haven't seen it, it's finally here.  Avatar comes out on Blu Ray and DVD this Thursday.  I loved the visual effects, the story line, and the action sequences.  You can believe that I will add this to the visual entertainment library.  Maybe we'll do a youth movie night and explore the concepts portrayed in the movie to our daily lives as ambassadors for Christ in this world.  Stay tuned.

I GOT A TESTIMONY!!!!....Back in Nov. 2009 I had been rushed to the ER, experiencing the worst headache and body pain ever. My ER bill was a little over $1800.00. No job and on top of my other bills I had no idea how I was going to pay it. I applied for financial assistance thru the hospital and I kept praying. They gave me discount and took about $500 off, bringing it down to a little over $1200. I put $20 on it for the first time this month and I just recieved a letter in the mail showing there was an adjustment to my account. I called the hospital and found out they had given me a 91% discount!!! My balance that I owed was only $93.55!!! I just paid it off a few minutes ago but OMG, AIN'T GOD AWESOME!!!!! I couldn't help but cry and I began to thank/praise him!....Believe that God can do anything y'all!

I don't know if you have ever seen the original Karate Kid but it is a classic story of a teen 
who moves into a new neighborhood and gets picked on by a neighborhood big shot. 
He befriends a local Sensei (Japanese Karate instructor), learns Karate (while practically
becoming the teacher's slave), and defeats the big shot in a martial arts tournament.  
This summer, Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan are remaking the

Hello everyone, I wanted to share a testimony about the greatness of God.  Thursday I received a very distressing phone call from a coworker and friend of mine.  He stated that his father was very sick and that the doctor told his mother to call everyone to come to the hospital in Florida so that they could be around for his father's last moments.  I felt bad for him and all I knew to do was to pray.  We prayed together on the phone and believed that God would answer prayer.  The prayer was that the will of God would be done.  He went to Florida where his father had an 80/30 something blood pressure.  He was septic and he had an infection at 80+ years of age.  I spoke to my friend when he had arrived and he said that when he saw his father he was unconscious.  I told him to prepare his father spiritually for heaven and to read Romans 10:9 to him.  He said that he did.  The next time that we spoke he said that his father was moving in a positive direction and that his blood pressure had raised significantly.  This time he asked that we pray again which we did.  This morning I walked into work preparing to leave a lesson for my friend's class and he was there.  He said that his father was talking to him by the time that he left Florida.  He attributed his father's recovery to the power of prayer.  I thank God for revealing himself over and over again.  He is so wonderful.

It's finally here folks, the much awaited iPad from Apple is finally here.  This new gadget has been rumored to be the gadget that will eliminate the need for the Kindle, Amazon.com, and PC computers altogether.  I have had the opportunity to play with it and I am amazed at the functionality of the apps that it has so far.  You can actually play a touch screen piano on it.  The iLibrary seems sort of limited so far, however, the salesman says that they hope to expand in the future.  I wonder if Pastor will let us use it for the Bible in church. LOL!!!
